Extensions to create Sir Kyffin Williams Gallery

Located on the outskirts of Llangefni the original Oriel building consisted of two main buildings, on different levels, connected by two ramped access corridors.
The inner courtyard located between the two main buildings flanked by ramped access corridors leading from the lower building to the higher building containing the two galleries.

The design solution was to replace the two access ramped corridors with a central ramped access. The new access corridor is wider than the existing link corridors, offering an opportunity for additional hanging space with raised steps for display purposes. The ramped corridor is centrally located in the Oriel on the main front door axis with the spaces created on either side being taken up by the new Syr Kyffin Williams gallery on one side and the multi-purpose workshop and storage areas, with first floor offices, on the other.
These changes have created a direct route through the building with the new gallery located at the heart of the Oriel.
